Voltaren 1% Gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory gel containing the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), diclofenac. It is available in the following forms:
1% Gel with a numbing agent
Gel with the diclofenac active ingredient, diclofenac sodium (Diclofenac Sodium)
Non-Gel with the diclofenac active ingredient, diclofenac potassium (Diclofenac Potassium)
Non-Gel with the diclofenac sodium active ingredient, diclofenac potassium (Diclofenac Potassium)
Gel with the diclofenac potassium base, which is the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac potassium.
Each tube contains 20 mL of gel with the diclofenac potassium base, and the gel is rubbed in the mouth.
For each 5 mL, apply the first dose to the skin around the lower back.
This is applied every 4–6 hours for 10 minutes, depending on the size of the bottle. Use the dosing guide, or apply a second dose of the gel at a later date.
For each 10 mL, use the dosing guide, or apply the second dose of gel to the whole body, even if the side effects are less serious.
For each 5 mL, apply the third dose to the skin around the lower back. If you apply the third dose to the entire body, don’t apply more gel, unless your doctor tells you to.
Do not apply more than the recommended dose. If the doctor told you to use a higher amount, it probably is because the patient didn’t get the right amount of the drug, or because they are worried about the side effects.
Do not use more than one tube in a 24-hour period.
If you use more than one tube in a 24-hour period, apply a second dose of the gel at a later date.
For maximum results, use this drug with caution and for as long as is recommended. If it is necessary to use this medication regularly, check with your doctor.
